HOW TO FIND A BRAND PHOTOGRAPHER?

Are you a business owner, artist, or entrepreneur looking for professional photos to promote your brand/work? GREAT! You've come to the right place so far. You are in need of a brand photographer. This is the first step.

WHERE ARE THEY?

Like most people, the first place you go to find something is trusty ol' Google, but depending on what you search and your area, that might give you limited options (or maybe too many). So after scrolling through the never-before-seen 5th page of Google, it's time for another option.

Another great place to look is Facebook Groups! If you are on any entrepreneurship group pages, artists group pages, local business owner pages, etc. post in there to see if anyone is/knows a brand photographer.

Staying on trend with social media, you can also search local hashtags on platforms like Instagram or even keywords in LinkedIn. Not everyone can be on the first page of Google, so this is a great way to find more variety in your search. Plus, then you can quickly see their work from their Instagram feed or check out their experience on LinkedIn.

One other place to check is services like Fiverr or Upwork. These are platforms designed specifically for people to hire freelancers. Some are local and some are worldwide. The services range anywhere from graphic design, video editing, photography, writing, and so much more.

Last but not least, I have to say it...if you're reading this right now, you've found a brand photographer here too. 😉

WHAT TO AVOID

Ok, before I sign off, I want to give a couple of extra tips as you begin your search for the perfect brand photographer.

Avoid hiring your wedding/family photographer (unless you have a wedding brand/service then I wouldn't rule it out). I have absolutely nothing against wedding/family photographers, they are amazing and talented people, but like with any industry, they have different expertise. Although both are great with a camera, a brand photographer can give you more tailored services, better planning and styling for your shoot, and have great knowledge about the commercial industry.

Avoid just picking the first name you find. Since brand photography can be so personal, you want to make sure you find someone that fits your style and your vibe. Find someone that you enjoy working with. There's a chance the first name you find is a perfect fit, but there's also a good chance it's not. So, check out portfolios, creep on social media, and reach out to 1 or 2 that fit your brand. Ideally, this is someone you build a working relationship with for long-term content!

Avoid going with the cheapest option. This is more tailored to the Fiverr and Upwork freelancers you find. These are great platforms with outstanding people, but also remember that anyone can sign up and make a profile. You don't often get to meet someone from Fiverr or Upwork before working with them, so it's a bit harder to screen them and build a relationship. You can find some really great talent though and build good relationships, just know it may not be with the cheapest options.

I hope this information was helpful as you begin your search for your photography partner! Having a relationship with a quality photographer can make your life so much easier and truly grow your business exponentially!

If you have more questions, never hesitate to reach out. :)
